Blog Update 16 March 2018

Hello and welcome to the latest update!  This week we have been working closely with our design team on the website itself, as well as planning the upcoming workshop on the 21st May where we hope to introduce our plan.

Work continues on getting the layout for the website right, and the web team have also been building the system for us to enter projects.  We’ve also been consulting with our student team for keywords and feedback designs for the website, and hope to send this out to further survey soon so that we can get some comprehensive information there.
Our upcoming workshop will introduce the website and give an opportunity for our participants to provide feedback on the design.  We’ll be running through how we intend to use the website, including how to upload projects and how the match system will work. We’d really like to facilitate discussion here, and finally, discuss our plans for the future and how people can get involved.  If that sounds interesting, see the link to the workshop here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/nature-volunteers-website-launch-tickets-43844894259 to book a place!  I’ve been contacting some local conservation organisations this week to gather their involvement but will be working more on this in the near future.  I am also looking forward to meeting several other groups soon to talk about the project and gather some further interest.  So far the reception has been very positive, and we are keen to make sure that we are providing something useful!

On Friday I spoke at the National Trust Purbeck Ecology Review Meeting to introduce our project to some important volunteers and conservation practitioners.  This was a really great event and it was also fascinating to see the amazing work that is going on with citizen science and nature conservation in this area.  We’re certainly impressed with this and really hope that we will be able to contribute to these positive projects in the future.
